Summary of the home loan application process:

Step 1 – Ensure you meet the criteria
You can apply for a home loan from overseas or soon after arrival in Australia if you are *:- an Australian citizen or permanent resident returning to Australia
- a migrant on an employer sponsored visa (permanent or temporary – most subclasses)
- a migrant on a Skilled – Permanent, or Skilled Independent or Skilled Independent Regional (Provisional) visa (most subclasses)
- a non-resident but wishes to invest in properties in Australia and you have ongoing income from employment, investments/rental properties, and/or other sources
- a Business Skill, Investor or Talent visa (most subclasses) migrant and you either have or had a business in your country of origin for at least 2 years or a business in Australia.

*Important note: Satisfying the requirements above does not imply that your application will automatically be approved, as applications are subject to Westpac's usual lending criteria. For more information, contact us.

Step 2 – Read the information about our home and property loans
Westpac provides a wide range of home, investment property and equity loans for customers at competitive prices and with different features to suit the different needs of customers.
Note: Do not apply directly through our online application system in that website as this system caters for customers living in Australia. Please refer to Step 3 below for your application.

Step 3 – Complete an application
Fax the following documents to us on +61 2 8253 1875:
- A completed
Home/Investment loan application form (PDF 337kb) - A cover sheet with all your contact details (including email)
- A copy of the pages of the passport to confirm your personal details and residency or citizenship status
- letter of employment or payslip, and/or documents showing income from investments/rental properties, and/or other sources
- If you are a business migrant and not in paid employment, please forward documents confirming that you have a business in Australia or country of origin. This could be the annual return or annual company report, for example.
