Are you looking forward to the Beijing Games?
I can't wait to get over there! It's an enormous opportunity and privilege to be able to participate in an Olympic Games and i am fortunate enough to be competing in my third consecutive Olympic Games. The fact they only come around every 4 years also makes it even more exciting, if one thing goes wrong then you have to wait another 4 years to be able to have another go at it. There is no room for error and no excuses!
What are your plans after Beijing?
When I get home I am hoping to be celebrating with family and friends. I will also be spending a few weeks celebrating with my corporate partners and doing sponsor appearances. Candice and I will definitely take a holiday!!! We are really keen on going to the US especially NY and then I'll also have a lot of time dedicated to making appearance for my sponsors and keeping them happy.
But I'll be looking forward to taking time to relax and reflect on the year just gone before getting back into it.
What is your greatest motivation?
To get the best out of myself is my greatest motivation. To prove to myself that I have done my best. And to satisfy my own expectations about my talent and commitment to getting the best out of myself.
What's it like to be the captain of the Australian Swim Team?
It's such an honour and a privilege to be Captain and be part of driving and supporting the success of the team. I'm also very privileged to be able to share the experience with the team who are such amazing athletes and share the responsibilities. The older athletes always work together to make sure the younger ones are ok.
Who are going to be your greatest rivals in the 1500m freestyle?
The Polish swimmer, Mateusz Sawrymowicz and Russian swimmer, Yuri Prilukor will be ones to watch out for in the 1500 metre freestyle. We'll all be going very hard for a Gold medal in this race, who knows how it's going to turn out.
What's a quirky detail that no one would know about you?
Ha, I'm sure there are many. But one thing which I am really intrigued with is random little facts, that sort of thing can keep me entertained for hours.
