Surf Life Saving Queensland

Surf Life Saving Queensland provides a vital service to Queensland's beaches. During the 04/05 summer patrol season, volunteer surf lifesavers in Queensland rescued 2,614 people from life threatening situations and provided first-aid treatment for another 2,580 beachgoers.

Westpac has been involved with Surf Life Saving Queensland since 1976. This year, we are celebrating 30 years of partnership.

The most visible examples of our sponsorship are the Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter, which patrols the South East Queensland coast. Westpac branding also appears on the left sleeve of all Queensland lifesaver patrol uniforms, three Jet Rescue Boats operating on the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, and a 4WD vehicle on the Gold Coast.

The Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter performs routine beach patrols, shark warnings, preventative actions and assist patrols and rescues in the water and on the beach.

Each year during the Rescue Services Appeal, our employees encourage their customers and local community members to help raise funds to support the surf lifesavers and keep our beaches safe.
