Australian Mathematics Competition

Maths skills help kids to develop money skills

As a bank, we understand how important mathematics skills are in today's society. Numeracy is a core skill that can provide the foundation for financial literacy and help young people learn to manage their money effectively.

Westpac has sponsored the Australian Mathematics Competition for the Westpac Awards for almost 30 years. It is a great way for students to apply the skills they learn at school and gain recognition for their achievement.

Students who enter receive a Certificate of Participation and a letter with details of their results. Around 50 per cent of entrants qualify to receive a Certificate of High Distinction, Distinction or Credit. Students with outstanding results receive a prestigious Australian Mathematics Competition medal and approximately 1,600 students will share $80,000 prize money.
