Find out how Westpac is working with our key community partners.
Making a worthwhile contribution to the community is critical to our aspiration to be a great Australian company. The three components of our community involvement strategy have a positive effect on employee commitment and differentiate our brand in terms of image and reputation.
Employee involvement
Getting involved in the community has become part of the culture at Westpac. For every dollar an employee gives to a tax deductible charity, Westpac matches their donation.
In addition, thousands of paid volunteering days are logged each year, with countless additional time devoted to team projects and volunteering outside of work hours. Outstanding volunteering efforts by employees are recognised annually by the CEO.
Community partnerships
Working in partnership with community organisations has been a tradition at Westpac for more than three decades. We continue to find new ways to add value to these relationships to strengthen their foundations and ensure that the outcomes are maximised by all parties.
Capacity building
Utilising experts in financial decision-making and resource optimisation to provide specialised training for non-profit organisations assists them to improve their sustainability.
In August 2004, we were recognised with the Special Award for Strategic Community Investment at the Australian Financial Review Magazine Corporate Partnership Awards. This is a reflection of our comprehensive community investment strategy; the alignment of the strategy with our business objectives, vision and values; and the measurement of outcomes of our community partnerships.
