Indigenous issues

Our Indigenous assistance program revolves around a range of initiatives to address the educational, financial and employment disadvantage of Indigenous Australians and to better address their specific banking needs.

In line with our vision to be a great Australasian company, Westpac maintains a deep and long-standing commitment to recognise, respect and act on the rights and needs of Indigenous Australian, Maori and Pacific Island communities. This Statement outlines our Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF Group approach (PDF 23kb).

Apart from our work with Indigenous Enterprise Partnerships in Cape York, we are involved in the following initiatives with Indigenous Australia:

  • We are a signatory to the Corporate Leaders for Indigenous Employment Agreement, established by the Department of Employment, Workplace Relations and Small Business, in February 2001
  • We offer financial and advisory support to eligible Indigenous businesses in conjunction with the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations through the Indigenous Capital Assistance Scheme
