SCAMwatch: recognise, report and protect

Transferring money, paying bills and managing your banking or super online has enormous advantages, not least the convenience and time savings provided by 24/7 access.

However, online banking also brings an increasing level of responsibility for you to take action in fraud prevention. We urge you to maintain up-to-date virus protection software. We also urge you to be on alert to the wide range of hoax emails and other scams deliberately targeting online users and take the necessary action to report them.

Taking action is easy. All you do is register your suspicions on SCAMwatch, an independent website run by the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC).

The aim of SCAMwatch, is to provide information to consumers and small business about how to recognise, avoid and report scams. Scams that are reported to SCAMwatch will be analysed and acted on by the ACCC.
