Our security gets the green light

We've made it even easier for you to protect yourself online with Extended Validation Certificates - an added layer of security. Just look for the green address bar when using compatible browsers so you can be sure you're on a legitimate, secure Westpac site.

* If you are using IE7 on Windows XP the Phishing Filter and/or Certificate Revocation needs to be on for the address bar to turn green on a site that uses Extended Validation Certificates.

  • To turn on the Phishing Filter (which would be on by default):
Tools > Phishing Filter > Turn On Automatic Website Checking
  • To turn on Certificate Revocation (which would be off by default):
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > scroll to Security > select Check for Server Certificate Revocation then restart your browser

** If you use Firefox 2.0 you'll need to install a Firefox Add-on that enables Firefox to recognise VeriSign Extended Validation Certificates. The Add-on is available at: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4828
