Westpac number one for first home buyers

Westpac has been named Australia's best bank for first home buyers - winning research firm CANNEX's inaugural First Home Buyer Award.

In announcing the award, CANNEX said Westpac provided a full range of educational support, product features, flexibility and ease of access to home loan specialists.

CANNEX rated more than 2,200 loans from 165 mortgage providers on how lenders met the special needs of first home buyers.

Westpac General Manager, Consumer Distribution, Jason Yetton, said the award not only recognised the competitive range of products the bank offered first home buyers but also the extra effort Westpac puts in to ensure customers are offered the right product to suit their needs.

"In addition to offering a home loan product tailored specifically for first home buyers, Westpac understands it's the personalised service from our home loan specialists that our customers value," Mr Yetton said.

"Westpac has a number of branches open on Saturdays – offering customers the opportunity to discuss their mortgage options with a Westpac home finance manager before they go house hunting on a weekend."

Westpac branches also offer free seminars for first home buyers that offer customers tips and advice on buying their first home.

Westpac also has a First Home Buyers Guide, available from www.westpac.com.au which offers helpful tips on saving for a deposit, choosing the right loan, applying for a loan and managing your mortgage.

"We encourage our customers to visit us at their local branch or call us on 131 900 for more information on how Westpac can help first home buyers," Mr Yetton said.
