Is my shareholding Issuer Sponsored or Broker Sponsored?
Issuer Sponsored holdings can be identified by an 'I' at the start of your Shareholder Reference Number (SRN) which is printed on your holding statement. When your shares are Issuer Sponsored, all details relating to your holding are maintained at the share registry and you are free to trade them through any broker.

Broker Sponsored holdings are allocated a Holder Identification Number (HIN) and your Shareholder Reference Number will be that HIN, prefixed with an 'X'. In this case, details relating to your holding are maintained by your broker.

How do I change my name or address?
How you update your address depends upon your individual circumstances.

If you are a CHESS sponsored investor (if your holding number starts with an"X"), you must change your address through your sponsoring broker.

Most other individual investors who are ISSUER sponsored (if your holding number starts with an "I"), you can change your address details online or in writing.

All other ISSUER sponsored investors (joint holdings, companies, etc) are required to complete it in writing. We recommend that you use a Change of Address Form.

Printable versions of some commonly requested forms, including change of address, and instructions on how to complete them are available online from the share registrar, Link Market Services.

Alternatively you can contact the appropriate registry.

Can I check my Westpac shareholding on the internet?
You can view details about your Westpac shareholding online via the share registrar, Link Market Services. For your security, you will be asked to provide your Securityholder Reference Number (SRN) or Holder Identification Number (HIN), your surname and your postcode, all of which can be found on your holding statement.
