Our commitment

Westpac is committed to responsibly managing both our direct and indirect environmental impacts.

Over the last ten years, we have reduced our greenhouse gas emissions by over 45%. We have done this by being smarter and more efficient in the way we work.

As with most service companies, our major indirect environmental impacts occur through our everyday banking activities. Which is why we factor environmental considerations into our investment and lending decisions and we adhere to the Equator Principles in managing environmental and social risk in project finance.

We are also delivering products and services to help our customers manage their own environmental footprint, such as our EcoNomical Living Program.

We firmly believe that understanding, measuring and managing the environmental issues which impact our business is not only the right thing to do by our community, it will also deliver more sustainable long-term shareholder value.
