Environmental, social and governance risk

Westpac's investment and financing activity is determined by a range of policies and frameworks both prescriptive and principles-based which ensure the consideration of social, ethical and environmental performance and that effectively exclude investment and financing on that basis.

The major frameworks are:

1.Westpac's Principles for Doing Business

2.Equator Principles and specific credit policies covering environmental risk 'EV3' and commercially sensitivity and potential reputation risk ('AP2')

In 2007 we are looking at the value of additional sector specific ESG policies for high-risk sectors including: electricity; resources extraction; commercial property; and agriculture; as well as broader issue-based policies around: climate change; human rights and indigenous peoples; and financial inclusion.

Westpac and its customers to combat climate change together.
