Westpac Self-Funding Instalments (SFI) are one of the easiest and most convenient ways for Self-Managed Super Funds and other investors to gear into the Australian equity market.

To purchase the SFI, you simply make an initial payment which is roughly 50% of the price of the underlying share. This first payment entitles you to 100% of the potential share price growth, dividends and franking credits. Dividends automatically reduce your second payment, whilst funding costs are added annually in June.

In approximately 5-10 years time (depending on the series you have invested in) you then have the option to make the second payment on your SFI and receive the fully paid share.

Key features and potential benefits
