State and Regional Development (SRD)


SRD provides a range of services and advice to small-to-medium enterprise through its Small Business Development Group (SBDG), and the joint Commonwealth/State funded venture AusIndustry. The AusIndustry program is delivered by Client Managers across the SRD network, and primarily provides subsidised, external expertise for companies to improve their international competitiveness.

BECs offer free practical business advice and support for new and existing businesses. State Chamber of Commerce


The State Chamber of Commerce (NSW) provides business support through business advisory services, industrial relations support and training seminars covering a wide range of topics. The Chamber is the Sydney base for The World Trade Centre and provides a range of trade information and support services to importers and exporters. The Chamber hosts over 90 events each year providing networking opportunities at all levels, and also runs the Sydney 2000 Olympic Commerce Centre designed to supply information to all types of business.

Accountants can help you with your financial management. You should call either the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants Ph (02) 9375 6200 or the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ph (02) 9290 1344 for a referral.
AusIndustry provides access to government programs to support businesses that are doing research and development, exporting or developing import replacements, or supplying firms involved in international trade. For more information you should call the AusIndustry Hotline on Ph 132 846.

Industry Associations provide advice and assistance relevant to their industry. Examples of their groups include the Retail Traders Associations, Master Builders Association, Institute of Automotive Mechanical Engineers (Inc) amongst others. You should contact the Industry Association that best covers your business type.
