Switch your business transaction accounts to Westpac
We want to manage all your business accounts
Switch any of your non-Westpac business transaction accounts over to us by following these simple steps:
1. Open a new account
Choose the Westpac account that suits you. Find out more about our business accounts to help you choose the right account and apply.
Switching fees may apply
There may be switching fees associated with closing some of your accounts with other financial institutions. Contact your current financial institution to find out.
2. Contact your service providers or customers
- When your new account is ready, you must notify your existing service providers or customers of your new account details
- Your new BSB (6 digit number) and account number will be in the letter you receive from us when you open a new account.
If you need to provide your new account details in writing
- Use our online form to generate the letters required
- Print and send to your service providers
- Save the letters on your personal computer for your records (make sure you do not save this information on a shared or public drive).
3. Register for Business Telephone Banking or Business Online
Find out how to register for Business Telephone Banking and/or Business Online or call us on 1300 655 505.
4. Redirect any periodical payments
- Set up your periodical payments on your new account through Business Online or Business Telephone Banking
- You will need to contact your previous financial institution to cancel any fixed payments deducted on a regular basis from your old bank account.
5. Set up staff payments
When your account is opened, set up staff wages and salaries using Business Online or Business Telephone Banking on 132 142.
6. Remember to close your old account(s)
- Check you have sufficient funds to cover any outstanding direct debits or un-presented cheques
- Make sure all your service providers or customers have redirected any direct credits or debits to your new account before you close your own account
- Conduct a reconciliation (you can ask your accountant) with your old and new account before contacting your previous financial institution to close your old account.
