Accessibility Action Plan
Diversity to the Westpac Group means fostering an environment where people can flourish and grow - an environment that is human, engaging and creates a Westpac that is accessible to all.
In 2010, we conducted a first-time diversity audit with detailed questions on disability. The results helped build a profile of our people and their needs, which in turn guides our policies, programs and activities.
Our 2011 Accessiblity Action Plan outlines what we’ll do to meet the needs of our employees, customers and community members. We believe that effective accessibility action is driven by:
- Universal design - products, services and environments should be designed in such a way that the whole community can access them.
- Integrated diversity - healthy teams and communities are diverse and integrated and where each individual brings something special to the whole.
- Shared voices - shared stories and shared experiences build understanding, break down barriers and destroy misconceptions.
- Empathetic action - empathy without action can become dangerously close to pity, so we see empathy as a starting point in delivering tangible action.
