About the Report: The Westpac Group Annual Review and Sustainability Report 2011 highlights the company’s sustainability performance over the 12 months to 30 September 2011.

The report provides insights into sustainability issues and their drivers across all the Westpac Group’s brands. It includes details of metrics that evaluate and track performance on key areas including customers, employees, communities and businesses.

Highlights include:

  • Discussion of the Group’s new strategic approach to sustainability.
  • The launch of the Davidson Institute, Australia’s First School of Money.
  • Progress on diversity and flexibility, including the improved representation of women in senior leadership roles to 37.5%, indicating we are on track to achieve the target of 40% by 2014.
  • Support to communities impacted by natural disasters in New Zealand & Australia.
  • $20 million donation to the Westpac Foundation.
  • Working closely with the Australian Government and industry on major reform programs around superannuation and financial advice.

The Westpac Group continues to use the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3 framework and the Financial Sector Supplement as our guiding framework, reporting to an A+ level. The Review, including Westpac’s description of adherence to AA1000APS Principles, has been independently assured using the AA1000 and ISAE3000 Assurance Standards.
