Our Community

Microfinance

We support microfinance initiatives that enable disadvantaged and marginalised people to access loans for investment in areas such as small business, education and health.

Since 2004, Westpac have provided financial and advisory support to eligible Indigenous businesses through our Indigenous Capital Assistance Scheme (ICAS) and more recently we have commenced our Matching Loans program, doubling the microfinance loans made by employees.

We are also involved with community partners focusing on microfinance initiatives:

  • Good Return - An innovative microfinance website aimed at assisting people living in poverty in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Many Rivers  - Westpac supports this not-for-profit organisation to provide microfinance in remote and regional communities in Australia.
  • Opportunity International Australia - Westpac supported Opportunity International following the Asian tsunami in 2005 and they also receive assistance through our Organisational Mentoring program.
