Westpac Honoured in the Asian Banker Excellence Awards

Westpac Group has been acknowledged for the second consecutive year in The Asian Banker Excellence in Retail Financial Services Awards which includes more than 250 institutions across 42 countries in Asia Pacific, Central Asia, Middle East and Africa.

The prizes for Best Retail Bank in Australia and Internet Banking Product of the Year were awarded to Westpac at the 15th Annual Excellence in Retail Financial Services Convention last night at the W Hotel in Hong Kong.

Bernadette Inglis, Group General Manager at Westpac, said the awards are testament to Westpac's courage and consistency in delivering on its service revolution.

"Customers are central to every business decision we make, and we're making banking easier, simpler and more convenient for them with more 24/7 banking locations than ever, enhanced product offerings, and award-winning digital advancements across smartphones, tablets, and desktop."

Westpac recently launched a world-first digital service offering for home owners and investors called 'Wonder', which shows customers their financial position, including their properties, and potential finance options through an online banking portal.

Additional digital advancements save customers time by enabling them to communicate with Westpac electronically and access a range of banking services wherever they are. Some of the options include viewing account balances without logging into mobile banking, opening an account, notifying Westpac of overseas travel, getting cash out without a card, activating a card by taking a photo, and putting a card on hold if it is misplaced.

Another service called 'Connect Now' allows customers to visit a Westpac branch or Business Centre and speak to a range of business and banking specialists located in a central hub via high quality video conferencing. The convenient service replicates a face-to-face experience and is making banking easier for thousands of customers across Australia.

The awards will join a list of honours won by Westpac in the past year including Plan for Life and the Association of Financial Advisers Life Insurance Company of the Year; Commercial Asset Finance Brokers of Australia's Financier of the Year; AB+F's Australian Financial Services Institution of the Year, Banking Website/New Online Banking Offering of the Year, Australian Premium Banking Service Proposition of the Year and Money Magazine's Socially Responsible Bank of the Year.
