Westpac Institutional Bank partners with Mission Australia Community Preschool

10 April 2013

As part of its long standing partnership with Mission Australia, Westpac Institutional Bank’s senior executive team have renovated the grounds and transformed the playground at Rossmore Community Preschool.

Rossmore is an inclusive preschool which also caters for children with a disability, children with additional needs and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Westpac Institutional Bank, Chief Executive, Rob Whitfield said; “Westpac’s support of Mission Australia is not just about writing cheques. We can all make a simple difference just by lending a hand and giving a bit of our time.”

“At Westpac, we are all encouraged to take part in a Volunteer Day each year to give back to the communities where we live and work.”

“It was fantastic to make the most of this opportunity by coming together to build an outdoor environment for pre-school children to learn about sustainability,” he said.

Director of Rossmore Community Preschool, Sheryl Amann, said; “Providing a safe outdoor environment is critical in shaping the future health, learning and social ability of our young children.”

“The team from Westpac transformed the playground by building a vegetable garden, planting fruit trees, installing compost bins and general maintenance of our outdoor area. We are very grateful for their contribution,” Ms Amann said.

As part of its long standing partnership with Mission Australia, Westpac Institutional Bank contributed $136,000 to the construction of the Mission Australia Centre in Kingswood in 2012, which provides a purpose-built environment to help combat family homelessness in Western Sydney, benefiting over 1000 vulnerable families each year.

In November 2012, Westpac’s Kokoda Westpac Spirit team donated $300,000 to MissionBeat – Mission Australia’s homeless outreach service and in December 2012 Westpac employees purchased over 130 gifts as part of an Online Christmas Drive for homeless children.
