Westpac appoints new Chief Information Officer

The Westpac Group today announced the appointment of Clive Whincup as Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Mr Whincup joined Westpac in May 2009 as General Manager, Service Delivery Applications and was promoted to Group General Manager, Service Delivery in November 2010 where he was accountable for service delivery in applications, infrastructure, engineering and sustainability across The Westpac Group.

His position will be effective from 1 December 2011.

Westpac Chief Operating Officer, John Arthur said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment to CIO of such a high calibre member of our team. Clive has more than 25 years’ experience across IT and financial services holding a number of senior roles at several global banks.

“His international experience and background in transformational change and complex programs of work position him ideally for this critical leadership role, and I very much look forward to working with him. Former CIO, Bob McKinnon has taken on a broader role as Enterprise Executive, Group Services providing senior leadership and oversight across the Group Services division, which incorporates Information Technology, Operations and Counsel and Secretariat and Property Services. Mr McKinnon’s key focus areas will include the SIPs Portfolio, the Group Offshoring program, the Group’s strategic relationships, and Westpac’s process excellence and innovation agenda.

Mr Arthur said: “Over the past 3 years Bob has made an enormous contribution leading the transformation of Westpac’s technology capability and I am delighted that he has agreed to stay with us to help progress our transformational agenda across all of Group Services.”

Group Services encompasses technology, banking operations, legal and property services.
