Basel II, Pillar 3 Reports

Westpac has been accredited by the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) and Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) to apply the most advanced models permitted by the new global capital adequacy regime, commonly known as Basel II, to the measurement of its regulatory capital requirements.

We use the Advanced Internal Ratings Based approach (Advanced IRB) for credit risk and the Advanced Measurement Approach (AMA) for operational risk.

In accordance with the Australian Prudential Standard APS 330 (APS 330), Westpac is required to disclose prudential information about its risk management practices on a semi annual basis, and a subset of this information must be disclosed quarterly.
