Summer Internship Program
5th December 2011 – 10th February 2012
Westpac’s Summer Internship Program provides an opportunity to gain insightful paid work experience and get an insider’s view of the career opportunities available in one of Australia’s leading banks.
Opportunities exist for university students in their second last year of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree to gain exposure to the Financial Services industry. For the 2011/2012 Summer Internship Program, opportunities are available in the following areas:
- Corporate and Institutional Banking (Sydney and Melbourne)
- Debt Capital Markets (Sydney only)
- Financial Markets (Sydney only)
- Quantitative Risk Analytics (Sydney only)
The program runs for 10 weeks from December to February. Applications will be open from Tuesday July 26 and close midnight Wednesday August 24.

Applications open Tuesday July 26 and close midnight (Sydney time) on Wednesday August 24.
Will late applications be accepted?
Applications cannot be accepted after midnight, Wednesday August 24 2011 (Sydney time). It's best to get your application in early.
What do we look for in Interns?
As a basic requirement you will need:
- To be a student (undergraduate or postgraduate) in your second last year of study
- A credit average university result
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Leadership qualities, demonstrated by employment history or extra curricular activities
- Australian/New Zealand Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
How does the selection process work?
After completing an online application, shortlisted applicants will progress through the stages of online testing, telephone interview, assessment centre or an individual interview and reference checking.
When does the Summer Internship Program begin and end?
The Summer Internship Program commences on 5 December 2011 and concludes 10 February 2012.
