Westpac as an employer
Flexible work options
Part time employment and job sharing
We offer flexible work practices including part time and job sharing opportunities to help you meet your personal and family needs, as well as Westpac's business requirements.
Job sharing is a form of part-time work with the same conditions of employment. In principle any job can be shared including management roles. If a proposed job share situation meets our requirements, every attempt is made to facilitate the arrangement.
Telecommuting
Depending on your role it may be possible to agree to work away from the office - either at home or another location.
Parental leave
We recognise that becoming a parent is a significant event in your life. As a leading employer of choice, we provide financial and non-financial assistance when you have children including:
- Parental leave of 2 years (including 13 weeks paid parental leave)
- Paid parental leave flexibly, which means you can share the care of your child with your partner
- Up to 39 weeks in employee superannuation contributions in addition to existing parental leave entitlements of 13 weeks superannuation and 13 weeks full pay
- The right to request temporarily changing when you return from parental leave, from full time to part time until your child starts school.
Purchased leave
Sometimes 4 weeks annual leave just isn't enough to do everything you'd like. That's why at Westpac you have the flexibility to buy up to 4 weeks extra leave each year (called purchased leave).
Career break
We understand that you have interests and responsibilities outside work and you may want to take some extended time off to pursue these. A career break allows you between 3 and 12 months unpaid leave to do just that.
