Westpac as an employer
Diversity
Our vision is to be one of the world's great companies for diversity and flexibility. In 2010, we asked all our employees how we're progressing towards that goal. From the more than 17,000 responses, we learned:
- 43% of our employees (36% of men and 48% of women) work flexibly
- Over 10% of employees have a disability
- Almost half of our employees have primary carer responsibilities
- Women comprise 61% of our workforce
- 32% of our employees were born outside Australia and New Zealand.
Gender equity
We've a long and proud history of supporting gender equity. By 2014 we want 40% of our senior leadership roles to be filled by women. We're well on the way ...
Flexibility
Flexibility is more than just good policies – it’s about flexibility in thinking, challenging assumptions and being innovative, acknowledging business requirements.
Age balance
We recognise that whilst our employees might fit into particular age categories, it's no good to assume that all of our older or younger (or in between!) employees want the same thing. It's about options.
Cultural diversity
We already have a very culturally diverse employee population within the Westpac Group. However we are working on ways to improve our communication with employees, and further our understanding of how we can continue to be an employer of choice for all.
People with disability
We are committed to fostering an environment that is human, engaging and creates a workplace that is accessible to all.
Indigenous Australians
Long term solutions for a better future for all Australians. We are working on initiatives that make a difference at the individual level but which also have a positive impact within the Westpac Group community.
